Disaster Relief Options at Living Hope Baptist Church

Feeding Unit

As a support team for the Kentucky Baptist Convention Disaster Relief efforts, we are establishing a Feeding Unit that will be focused on providing survival support to both disaster victims as well as relief worker support. The KBC has the ability to serve over 50,000 hot meals daily through the use of 3 self contained mobile kitchens.  Our Feeding Unit has also been called on to distribute food and water to disaster victims as well as work in permanent indoor kitchens to provide this critical support. Our feeding unit has worked in Gulf Port, MS, Biloxi, MS, Slidell, LA and New Orleans LA among other locations.

Chain Saw Unit

Our Chain Saw Unit provides service and ministry to homeowners that have experienced direct storm damage from hurricanes, tornados and other natural weather events.  This work does feature chain saw work but also requires basic yard clean up tasks including limb dragging, raking and light, temporary repairs such as fixing tarps to homes that reduce further damage from additional weather. We are equipping ourselves with the proper tools to perform safely.  Our Chain Saw Unit has worked in several Kentucky locations [Warren Co, Ohio Co, Edmonson Co, Hickman Co, Davies Co.] as well as Murfreesboro, TN.

Mudout Unit

Mudout work is a very emotional, labor intensive ministry that assists homeowners that are dealing with the aftermath of severe flooding.  This ministry includes the sorting and saving of homeowners personal effects while working to overcome the damage caused by the water and mud of the flood itself.

Reconstruction Unit

Our reconstruction team is focused on performing basic reconstruction work to serve and minister to homeowners.  This can include major projects, like the mission trip we took to New Orleans in June of 2008 to work with Hurricane Katrina victims through Project Noah, a North American Missions Board effort.   It can be a local effort working on outreach projects that help out those in need that reside within our own community.

Onsite Ministry Opportunities

All of our disaster Relief efforts are completed with the primary focus of spreading God’s love to our brother s and sister in need.  Our Disaster Relief efforts provide unique settings to reach out to people that we may normally not have an opportunity to minister.

Mathew 25:35-36
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me ,I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
