Preschool VBS
Preschool is set up on a rotational large group/small group schedule...the bulk of teaching occurs in small group with more of a review occurring in large group. All planning (art, Bible story, recreation activities, music) and material distribution is done by the CM staff – we ask the preschool volunteer team to be responsible for implementation.
Classroom teacher:
Tells the Bible story; responsible for overseeing and implementing the daily schedule; travel with children to each large group rotation
Classroom helper:
Assists teacher; takes roll, travel with children to each large group rotation
Large group Music/Bible Story Teacher:
Reinforces the bible story using Big books, theme related songs; action songs; finger plays
Large Group Recreation Leader:
Teaches and leads game room, action songs, simple theme related movement activities
Large Group Art:
Guides children in making story related murals or large art projects to be used to decorate the walls of our church.
Elementary VBS
School age is set up on a rotational schedule as well but the rotations are subject or activity driven. Children move and rotate within a guide group. All materials are provided along with lesson plans and activities.
Bible teacher: Teaches Bible for a specific grade
Art Teacher: Implements the art projects for a specific grade
Missions Teacher: Teaches Missions for a specific grade
Classroom helper: Assists teacher; takes roll
Guide:
Assigned to one group and stays with that group for each rotation throughout the day; is responsible to implement the schedule and make sure children are where they are supposed to be; active participant in arrival and dismissal; primary relationship builder
General VBS
Snack Helper:
Prepare, serve and set up daily snack
Childcare:
Take care of volunteers’ children. Childcare will be offered for children that are too young to attend VBS.
Prep Worker:
In the weeks leading up to and/or during VBS prepare projects at home – cutting, organizing – and/or volunteer in the office to do copying, collating, organizing learning kits, crafts, etc.
Set & Theme Design
In the weeks leading up to VBS help to design and create sets for the worship center and develop the theme throughout the rest of the church.
